Guangxi holds a themed forum on artificial intelligence talent cultivation in Cambodia

Phnom Penh, May 15th (Xinhua) -- The 2025 "Study in Guangxi" Education Exhibition (Cambodia Station) Artificial Intelligence Talent Training Theme Forum was held in Phnom Penh on the 14th local time.

The forum is hosted by the Education Department of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, with the theme of "Industry, Specialty, and Career" integration, aiming to explore how to improve the quality of artificial intelligence talent training and help promote the development of digital economy in Cambodia and the ASEAN region. Zhang Xufeng, Deputy Director of the Education Department of Guangxi, Lin Shaoxiong, rotating President of the Cambodia China Council, as well as officials from relevant departments of the Cambodian government, representatives from universities and enterprises attended the forum activities on that day.

Lin Shaoxiong stated in his speech that artificial intelligence technology is profoundly changing the global development pattern, and cultivating high-quality artificial intelligence talents is the key to promoting economic and social development. The Cambodia China Council has always been committed to promoting Chinese education and technological exchanges in Cambodia. We hope to deepen school enterprise cooperation through this forum, promote the integration of industry, academia, and research, and inject new impetus into the cultivation of artificial intelligence talents between China and Cambodia.

Zhang Xufeng introduced Guangxi's innovative practices in cultivating artificial intelligence talents in the keynote speech. She pointed out that Guangxi is making every effort to build a highland for international cooperation in artificial intelligence between China and ASEAN, and through the "industry profession profession" integration model, constructing a professional cluster covering the entire artificial intelligence industry chain. At present, 13 artificial intelligence colleges have been established in universities in Guangxi, providing strong talent support for industrial development.

Zhang Xufeng stated that Guangxi actively promotes collaborative education between universities and industry enterprises, and has established 17 exemplary modern industrial colleges and 4 China ASEAN technology innovation colleges. At the same time, universities in Guangxi have established cooperative relationships with nearly 200 institutions in ASEAN countries, sending a large number of students to study in ASEAN. As of March this year, the total number of students from ASEAN countries studying in Guangxi has reached more than 6500, making Guangxi one of the provinces in China that admits the most ASEAN international students.

Next, Guangxi will implement an artificial intelligence talent training program for ASEAN through the "artificial intelligence+minority languages+majors" model, to support the construction of the China ASEAN Artificial Intelligence Innovation Cooperation Center.

Officials from relevant departments of the Cambodian government introduced the application scenarios and development prospects of artificial intelligence in the country's industrial sector at the forum. Officials attending the meeting stated that Cambodia is accelerating its digital transformation process, and artificial intelligence is an important component of its industrial modernization strategy. Guangxi's experience will provide valuable reference for Cambodia's artificial intelligence education, and they look forward to further deepening cooperation and common development between the two sides.

Guests such as Fu Chunsong, Vice President of Guangxi Construction Vocational and Technical College, and Long Birun, Vice President of Cambodia University of Technology, also shared their achievements in artificial intelligence education in their respective fields. They unanimously believe that China and Cambodia should further strengthen the exchange of educational resources and jointly cultivate high-quality artificial intelligence talents that meet the needs of regional industrial development.
