According to Xinhua News Agency today, during World Oceans Day 2025 and the United Nations Ocean Conference, China officially released the world's first digital intelligent system for deep-sea seamounts, which has received widespread attention from the international community.

This system was jointly developed by the China Ocean Affairs Administration and the Zhijiang Laboratory, and is the world's first digital public technology product released by China in the deep-sea field. This system fills the application gap of artificial intelligence technology in the deep sea field, and will promote the development of deep sea into the era of digitalization, helping China to take a leading position in deep sea technology innovation and space governance.

Li Jiabiao, the chief scientist of the "Digital Deep Sea Typical Habitat" grand scientific plan led by China and an academician of the CAE Member, pointed out that this system is an important scientific and technological breakthrough in the deep sea field, and also a concrete action for China to implement the United Nations "Ocean Decade" initiative and actively participate in global ocean governance.

It is reported that on the 9th local time, at the "Qizhi Ocean" side event of the United Nations Ocean Conference held in Nice, France, the China Ocean Affairs Administration announced the official launch of this system, and the artificial intelligence models and datasets are fully open to the international community. Letizia Carvalho, Secretary General of the International Seabed Authority, stated that advocating for open sharing of ocean data, digital technology, and products is of great significance for the international community to address urgent challenges in ocean governance.

Currently, the global ocean is facing multiple challenges such as climate change and biodiversity loss. The "Digital Deep Sea Typical Habitat" focuses on typical deep sea habitat types such as seamounts, mid ocean ridges, continental slopes, and plains. Through surveys, digital technology simulations, and artificial intelligence empowerment, it predicts the adaptation mechanisms and evolutionary trends of deep sea typical habitats to natural changes, climate change, human activities, etc., and explores solutions for biodiversity restoration, ecosystem tolerance, and sustainable resource utilization.

IT Home learned from the announcement of the National Marine Technology Center that on June 8th, the main event of World Ocean Day and National Ocean Promotion Day with the theme of "Protecting the Harmonious Coexistence of Human and Nature in the Marine Ecosystem" was held in Haikou City, Hainan Province. At the event, the Ministry of Natural Resources and the People's Government of Hainan Province jointly announced that the National Marine Comprehensive Test Site (Deep Sea) has officially started operation.

The National Marine Comprehensive Test Site (Deep Sea) is an important component of the "North Southeast, Shallow Sea+Deep Sea" national marine comprehensive test site system promoted by the Ministry of Natural Resources. The offshore fixed test area is located in the northwest of Ganquan Plateau, about 200 kilometers southeast of Sanya, with an area of about 400 square kilometers and a water depth of about 1500 meters, possessing typical deep-sea hydrological environment characteristics.
