According to CCTV News, on July 16th, the first composite wind tunnel in China that focuses on the aerodynamic research of low altitude aircraft was officially completed and put into use at Guangdong Aerospace Science and Technology Research Institute (Guangzhou Nansha Mingzhu Bay Area). This low altitude aircraft wind tunnel innovation combines the advantages of aviation grade wind tunnels and industrial grade wind wall systems, filling the infrastructure gap for low altitude aircraft from laboratory research to real-world scenario verification.
It is reported that a wind tunnel is a large-scale experimental platform that artificially controls the generation of air flow and can be used to simulate the flight state of aircraft at high altitudes. Through wind tunnel experiments, researchers can delve into the aerodynamic characteristics of aircraft and optimize control performance, which is the most important step before the aircraft is launched.
Traditional wind tunnels generally consist of a single motor as the power system. Guangdong Aerospace Science and Technology Research Institute has deeply considered the experimental needs of low altitude aircraft and designed a total of 48 wind turbines with "8 horizontal and 6 vertical" as the power system. This wind tunnel system can simulate strong winds between urban buildings.
IT Home learned from the report that the all space unmanned system comprehensive test site was put into use on the same day. The test field includes a physical test field and a digital test field. The physical test field consists of a 33 square kilometer airspace, a vertical takeoff and landing field, a taxiway, a 5G-A integrated sensing network, a wind measurement radar, etc. The digital test field includes a collaborative design platform, a supercomputing center, a digital twin center, and a full space unmanned system management service platform.
