According to the Ministry of Emergency Management of China, from October 14th to 18th, Vice Minister of Emergency Management Wang Daoxi led a delegation to attend the 5th China ASEAN Ministerial Conference on Disaster Management held in Phnom Penh, Cambodia and visited Cambodia.
Wang Daoxi and Guan Jin, the First Vice Chairman of the Cambodian National Disaster Management Committee, jointly chaired the meeting.
In July of this year, China and ASEAN adopted the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Action Plan, which clearly stated the need to further strengthen disaster management cooperation, enhance capacity building, and coordinate emergency response. China is willing to leverage the role of the China ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Disaster Management, comprehensively deepen multilateral and bilateral partnerships, promote the upgrading of cooperation, and contribute to the vision of building a closer China ASEAN community with a shared future. It is suggested to accelerate the preparation of the next five-year cooperation plan, promote cooperation in the fields of artificial intelligence, big data and other high-tech applications and emergency management education, and jointly build an international cooperation mechanism for natural disaster prevention and emergency management along the "the Belt and Road".
During the meeting, Wang Daoxi met with representatives from countries and regional organizations such as Cambodia's National Disaster Management Committee First Vice Chairman Guan Jin, ASEAN Secretary General Gao Jinhong, Laos' Minister of Labor and Social Welfare Posai, Indonesia's National Disaster Management Agency Director Suhayando, Singapore's Minister of Home Affairs and Minister of Social and Family Development Wu Peiming, Brunei's Minister of Home Affairs Ahmatin, and ASEAN's Humanitarian Aid Coordination Center Director Li Yanming to exchange ideas and practices on bilateral relations and disaster prevention and reduction.
