On the evening of October 9th, Weng Saiviso, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Cabinet Office of Cambodia, presided over the official release ceremony of the "7th Government National Development Strategic Plan" on behalf of Prime Minister Hong Manet.
829 people, including secretaries of state, ministers, government members, members of the Senate and National Assembly, representatives of ministries and agencies, diplomatic envoys, governors of provinces and cities, as well as representatives of development partners and civil society organizations, were invited to attend the event in Cambodia.
Weng Saiweiso highly praised and particularly thanked the Minister of Planning, Bendeche, and other relevant department leaders and officials for their efforts in formulating the strategy. He also expressed appreciation for the close cooperation among relevant ministries and agencies, the Economic and Fiscal Policy Committee, the Supervision and Evaluation Committee for the Implementation of the First Phase of the Five Corners Strategy, and various development partners, which contributed to the completion of this major strategic achievement.
He also mentioned that Cambodia is currently facing challenges from regional and global uncertainties, geopolitical issues, global economic fragmentation, and unilateralism tendencies of some countries. In addition, the tense situation at the Cambodia Thailand border has also put pressure on border passage, trade, and imports and exports. The decision of the United States to impose a 19% tariff on Cambodian exports has also brought uncertainty to Cambodia's export sector and attract new investment. In this regard, he called for the implementation of key measures, especially in-depth reforms in key areas, to address these challenges and ensure that Cambodia remains firmly committed to the path of development, achieving sustainable and inclusive growth.
