Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong Meets with Delegation of Former Thai Ambassador to China

On June 23, 2025, Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong met with a delegation led by former Thai Foreign Minister and Ambassador to China, De Wenna, to exchange in-depth views on China Thailand relations and issues of common concern.

Sun Weidong positively praised De Wenna and former Thai ambassadors to China for their important contributions to the development of China Thailand relations, stating that under the strategic guidance of Chinese President Xi Jinping and Thai leaders, China Thailand relations have entered a new era of building a community with a shared future. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Thailand and the "Golden 50 Years of China Thailand Friendship". China is willing to strengthen strategic communication, closely unite and cooperate with Thailand, seek common development and revitalization, promote the construction of a community with a shared future between China and Thailand to a higher and deeper level, and respond to the uncertainty of the external environment with the stability and resilience of China Thailand relations.

De Wenna reviewed the experience of personally promoting the establishment of diplomatic relations between Thailand and China 50 years ago, stating that Thailand and China have always stood together through thick and thin, supported each other, and the bilateral relationship has stood the test of time. It gives me great pleasure to be invited to visit China on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Thailand and China, to experience the vitality of Chinese path to modernization, and to witness China's positive contributions to regional stability and development. The Thai side is willing to work together with the Chinese side to strengthen friendly exchanges at all levels, enhance pragmatic cooperation in various fields, and continuously make new progress in building a community with a shared future between Thailand and China.
