In his congratulatory letter, Petongtan stated that Chinese immigrants to Thailand have brought traditional Chinese medicine, including health care and treatment, to Thailand, which has been widely spread and continuously inherited, and combined and applied with modern medicine. The General Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners in Thailand has played an important role in improving professional standards, promoting traditional Chinese medicine education and academic research, and enhancing the level of medical services. TCM will enable the Thai people to enjoy a healthier and better quality of life.
The predecessor of the Thai Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine was the "Siamese Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine" founded in Bangkok in 1925, which was renamed the "Thai Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine" in 1940. In October 2013, the three major professional organizations in the field of traditional Chinese medicine in Thailand - the General Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Thailand, the Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Thailand, and the Association of Practicing Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners in Thailand - merged to form a new professional organization for traditional Chinese medicine - the General Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners in Thailand.
Lin Danqian, President of the Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine Doctors, said that the Association would continue to uphold the concept of "inheriting the essence, being honest and innovative", strengthen exchanges and cooperation with Chinese medicine institutions at home and abroad, and promote the standardized, modern and international development of Chinese medicine in Thailand.
The Thai General Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine has established the Thai Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine Sciences, which includes 12 disease research institutes. The association currently has 2368 members, including middle-aged and elderly Chinese medicine practitioners who have migrated from China to Thailand, as well as young Chinese medicine practitioners trained by the Thai Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine..
