The 2025 China (Henan) - ASEAN Conference on Food and Agriculture Cooperation and Development will be held in Zhengzhou Henan Province

On August 19, 2025, the China ASEAN Center held a briefing on the 2025 China (Henan) - ASEAN Conference on Food and Agriculture Cooperation and Development in Beijing. Vice Secretary General Wang Pu of the Henan Provincial Government, as well as the Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and the Foreign Affairs Office of Henan Province, relevant officials of the Zhengzhou Municipal Government and representatives of enterprises, representatives of ASEAN countries and the Embassy of Timor Leste in China attended.

Shi Zhongjun, Secretary General of the China ASEAN Center, gave a speech introducing the preparations for the Food and Agriculture Conference to be held in Zhengzhou, Henan Province in October this year in cooperation with the Henan Provincial Government. He emphasized that agricultural cooperation is an important part of the China ASEAN comprehensive strategic partnership. The China ASEAN Center is willing to use the Food and Agriculture Conference as a platform to promote practical cooperation in agriculture between China and ASEAN. The 2025 Food and Agriculture Conference will be themed "Digital Empowerment of Food and Agriculture Cooperation, Innovation Driven Regional Development", focusing on practical cooperation across the entire agricultural industry chain, utilizing resources such as the Global Development Fund and the South South Cooperation Fund (hereinafter referred to as the "Global Development Fund") to promote higher-level docking between China and ASEAN in areas such as smart agriculture, green development, and food security. The purpose of this press conference is to proactively connect the cooperation needs and intentions between ASEAN countries, China, and the agricultural province of Henan, promote sustainable and solid cooperation results, and promote the common development and prosperity of China and ASEAN.

At the meeting, representatives from Henan Province and Zhengzhou City gave a detailed introduction to Henan's advantages in grain production, warehousing, agricultural machinery manufacturing, agricultural facilities, seed industry, agricultural product processing, location transportation, agricultural science and technology, and industrial clusters. They emphasized that Henan has a cooperative foundation and high complementarity with ASEAN countries in agricultural development, and stated that they will fully leverage these advantages to promote the preparation work for the 2025 conference, actively meet the needs of ASEAN, strive to achieve more substantive cooperation results, and add new momentum to the development of China ASEAN comprehensive strategic partnership.
