According to the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on October 27th local time, the Chinese Premier of the State Council attended the 28th ASEAN, China, Japan, and South Korea Leaders' Meeting in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Li Qiang first congratulated Timor Leste on officially joining the ASEAN family. Li Qiang stated that in the past year, the overall cooperation between ASEAN, China, Japan, and South Korea has maintained a positive momentum, demonstrating the resilience and vitality of the East Asian economy. At the same time, influenced by the complex changes in the international economic and trade landscape, the East Asian economy is facing more difficulties and challenges, and the instability and uncertainty of development have significantly increased. In the face of current difficulties, we can draw wisdom and strength from historical experience. Over the past few decades, East Asia has long been the fastest-growing region in the world economy, creating one economic miracle after another. To this day, we are still excited and proud of it. Open cooperation is a valuable experience that we have explored and accumulated in practice. We should cherish it and always adhere to it, so that it can continue to become a significant advantage and winning weapon in the East Asian economy.
Leaders of participating countries stated that since the establishment of the ASEAN China Japan South Korea cooperation mechanism, it has played an important role in addressing challenges and promoting development, and has achieved rich results. The current international situation is characterized by increasing uncertainty, rising trade protectionism, and complex and intertwined challenges. All parties should further unite and cooperate, strengthen the awareness of regional community, maintain a peaceful and stable environment and the multilateral trading system, adhere to openness and win-win, continue to promote cooperation in trade, investment, finance, food security, green economy, humanities, public health, climate change, emergency disaster reduction, and combating transnational crime, enhance the resilience of the production and supply chain, promote regional connectivity and economic integration, and promote innovation, inclusiveness, and sustainable development.
The meeting was chaired by Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, the rotating chair of ASEAN. The meeting issued a statement by the leaders of ASEAN, China, Japan, and South Korea on strengthening regional economic and financial cooperation.
