The 47th ASEAN Summit and its series of meetings have concluded

Kuala Lumpur, October 28th (Xinhua) - The 47th ASEAN Summit held its closing ceremony on October 28th in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar stated that ASEAN should adhere to the principle of rationality in the turbulent world situation in order to survive and develop sustainably.

Anwar said in his closing speech that at this meeting, all parties built bridges and engaged in dialogue, proving that the ASEAN mechanism is still effective under patient and rational guidance.

At the press conference after the closing ceremony, Anwar stated that ASEAN has signed multiple economic cooperation agreements with strategic partners at this summit and series of meetings, demonstrating that ASEAN will continue to deepen economic and trade cooperation with all parties to maintain regional peace and economic growth. He also stated that Timor Leste's becoming the 11th member state of ASEAN at this summit and series of meetings is a "historic milestone".

Anwar handed over the gavel of the ASEAN rotating presidency to Philippine President Marcos at the closing ceremony. Anwar stated that during Malaysia's presidency, with the theme of "inclusivity and sustainability", over 300 meetings were held to promote various initiatives to strengthen ASEAN solidarity, deepen regional cooperation, and enhance ASEAN resilience.
