Trump announces 36% tariff on Thailand

Hong Kong News Network, July 9th - US President Trump announced on July 7th that he will impose a 36% tariff on imported products from Thailand starting from August 1st. On the 8th, Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Phochai posted on social platform X that the negotiation team has been fighting and will continue to fight. They will persist in fighting to the end and strive for the best solution for Thailand.

According to a report by Reuters cited by Global Times, Thailand's Finance Minister stated that Thailand is developing a contingency plan to cope with the 36% tariff imposed by the United States on its exports.


Thai Acting Prime Minister Putan stated on the 8th that the tariff policy announced by the United States on the 7th contradicts the previous negotiations between the two sides. He stated that he will further discuss with relevant Thai parties and be prepared to continue negotiations.
