The company is scaling up production at its Nanjing Phase II facility, aiming to increase annual capacity from 3 gigawatt-hours (GWh) to 18 GWh. Additionally, a rotary indexing system performs tab flattening and full-tab forming in a single step, and laser welding is employed to speed up production, achieving up to 120 cells per minute. These innovations ensure that the facility can scale up production without compromising on quality.\nAutomation is a cornerstone of CBAK’s strategy. The company has automated various stages of the production process, including electrode processing and material handling. Dual-roll continuous calendering on the anode line improves electrode thickness consistency by 30%, while an induction-heating process on the cathode line reduces web breaks during high-speed processing. Automated guided vehicles (AGVs) move materials between manufacturing stages, and 100% of the core manufacturing processes are automated. This level of automation ensures that production remains stable even as throughput increases.">">Another critical aspect of CBAK’s approach is the implementation of a “one cell, one digital identity” system. Each battery is linked to its manufacturing history, with over 100 critical product parameters inspected and tracked during production. UV marking links the finished cell’s identification code to its corresponding jelly-roll code, creating a digital record that can be used to trace a cell back through its production process if a quality issue arises.
