These machines can deposit metal using a laser-wire process and then machine it to tolerance in the same setup, allowing operators to fabricate or restore parts without switching stations. The remaining 12 systems are Markforged X7 composite printers, capable of producing tooling, fixtures, prototypes, and replacement components from durable composite materials. \\[LF] In the context of ASEAN, this development underscores the need for factories in Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, and Malaysia to invest in similar technologies. By integrating additive and hybrid manufacturing systems, these factories can reduce lead times, lower costs, and improve overall efficiency. During a recent exercise, sailors aboard USS Essex used onboard hybrid manufacturing systems to produce replacement parts at sea, including components for equipment where original manufacturers no longer exist.
